Research

Throughout her career, Rudrani Banik, M.D. has been involved in advancing knowledge in Neuro-Ophthalmology through research.  

During her fellowship, she performed experiments on optic nerve regeneration in an animal model, with promising results.

While serving on full-time faculty at various academic institutions including Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx-Lebanon Hospital, and New York Eye and Ear Infimrary of Mount Sinai, Dr. Banik remained actively involved in research projects. She authored numerous manuscripts on a range of topics and presented her work at national and international meetings.

Though currently in private practice, Dr. Banik maintains her academic affiliation with New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai and her title of Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Icahn School of Medicine. This affiliation enables her to continue her research interests.

Dr Banik is also a member of the Neuro-Ophthalmology Research Disease Investigator Consortium (NORDIC), an international network of Neuro-Ophthalmologists who collaborate on research projects which are funded by the National Eye Institute or industry sponsors. The goal of NORDIC is to further an understanding of the managment of rare neuro-ophthalmic diseases.
